Sphere of Trust
As leaders, we are often trusting to a fault. We have big hearts and believe the best in people. We long to help them discover their own leadership gifts and callings. Yet, sometimes we are too quick to trust and release the wrong people into leadership. Some will use our sincerity for their agenda.
Sometimes, we’re tempted to grant leadership to win people’s love and loyalty. Bad idea. When you give leadership to someone who doesn’t like you, they probably still won’t like you and will leverage their position in order to take yours away. Some folks can never be pleased or trusted.
We must be secure in Christ’s acceptance, because we will often have to make decisions that people don’t like, and we will have to be as emotionally firm as we are loving. Our decisiveness may negatively affect the people we lead. As a result, we may lose friends, team members, staff, etc.
NEVER release leadership to earn favor, especially from disgruntled people, it only leads to dysfunction and sometimes even disaster. Stand strong even if certain individuals are threatening to leave. Let them go, and trust God. In time, He will bring qualified people into your sphere of influence.
Often, the vacancy is just the opportunity we need for God to fill it.
