Imitate the Ostrich
“Let us make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish.” (Hebrews 4:11)
When we are tired, we make poor decisions, and our ability to handle stress decreases. Leaders need to rest and recalibrate often in order to approach their work with greater energy and efficiency. If we don't rest along the way, we won’t make it the rest of the way. When we rest from work, we can work from rest. In other words, we work so much better when we’re refreshed and replenished.
We need to imitate the ostrich. Sometimes, we just need to find a beach somewhere and bury our head in the sand. Our attitude, perspective, pace, and productivity is greatly enhanced when we rest and recover. It’s okay to have deadlines, but it’s NOT okay to cross those lines DEAD. Make sure to prioritize adequate time for rest. Soul-connection and self-discovery are vital in a leader’s life.
