Thinking Small
Oral Roberts, one of the most powerful modern faith preachers of our era, had a plaque on his desk that read, “Make No Small Plans Here.” What a testament to the Mighty God we serve. We should dream BIG dreams because God is a BIG God.
It is presumptuous to think that God doesn’t want big things for us, to give us exceedingly, abundantly above all we could ask or think. Think of your biggest dream and realize that God wants to do above and beyond that in your life. (Ephesians 3:20-21)
It glorifies God when we believe He wants to do more than we can imagine. The reason many think and dream small is because it’s manageable. It doesn’t take real courage. They’re afraid of what might happen. It’s easier to maintain and maneuver.
Of course, when we do something in our own strength it will take the strength of our own hand to maintain it, but whoever said we have to do big things in our own strength? Stepping out into the impossible will cause us to pray more and trust more.
A vision truly from God is thrilling and frightening at the same time because He leads us out into the middle of something we can’t handle on our own. Yet, we should dream and attempt such great things for God that unless He is in it, it will fail.
