Leaders Slip
I wish I could say that every leader has failed except for me. I can’t. Truth is, I’ve failed immeasurably more times as a leader than I’ve succeeded. Yet, in my experience, and most leaders I’ve talked to, we learn far more from failure than we ever could from our successes.
Failure teaches us what success never could. We not only learn from our failures, we teach better from them. My most impactful sermons aren’t how I won but what I learned when I lost. When we go through failure, we grow-through it. Overcomers learn to come over some things.
I’ve made so many mistakes and blown it big. Yet, I’m grateful God didn’t say I couldn’t be a leader anymore. A real victory isn’t earned without a real battle. No grit, no glory. No cross, no crown. No trials, no triumph. The winning formula for triumph is Try + Umph = Triumph!
The best leadership mentors aren’t a special breed of superheroes. They’re honest about their shortcomings and seek ways to help guide others through their own failures. Successful leaders don’t brag about what they’ve learned to do, but share what they’ve learned to ENDURE.
